FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do your prices compare with other painting contractors?
A: We’re usually right in the middle. It’s tempting to go with the lowest bidder, especially in this economy, but that usually means the painter is cutting corners, which may result in expensive repainting projects in the future. We do better than the best.

Q: Are you qualified to do lead abatement work?
A: Yes. We’re certified by both the EPA and the State of California in lead paint removal and abatement.

Q: Do you provide any other services besides interior and exterior painting?
A: Yes. In addition to custom paint jobs, we also offer waterproofing and powerwashing services, color consultations and wood finishing.

Q: Do you use the same crews every day?
A: Yes, and we never use subcontractors or day laborers. Everyone who works here is a full-time employee.

Q: Does Mr. Dickinson personally supervise every job?
A: Yes, and he’s also onsite most of the time when work is underway.

Q: Does every painting project need a primer coat?
A: Every exterior painting project needs a primer coat, as well as any interior project where the wall has been damaged or where there’s a color change. The only time you don’t need a primer coat is for one-coat interior jobs where you’re basically repainting the same color. We double prime on repairs.

Q: Do you prefer to use a certain brand of paint?
A: We use a few different brands, but we prefer Kelly-Moore paints—their quality is the most consistent. Other big manufacturers produce products of similar quality, but they often don’t come through if there’s a problem with the paint. That being said, we’ll use any and all paint by client request and/or need.
